Labour Controlled Derbyshire County Council are determined to sabotage the campaign to keep Stoney Middleton School open. At a public meeting in the village last night Cllr Alan Charles DDC Cabinet Member for School Planning and Support apologised for inaccuracies in the consultation document, which stated that the governors had advertised for a new headteacher twice when in fact they had only advertised once. However Cllr Charles was not prepared to issue a press release with a public apology.

Over 9000 Letters Delivered to County Hall

Cllr Charles continued by announcing that the nine thousand letters from parents and friends of Stoney Middleton School hand delivered to County Hall on Monday 30th October so that councillors would be aware of the their concerns in advance of the full council meeting on Wednesday had still not been distributed to Councillors. The reason for this precaution was that the letters had not been screened by the Post Office and may contain a bomb or other dangerous material. The DCC staff must be protected from the Stoney Middleton terrorists!

Finally Cllr Charles announced that, as a concession, the posters made by the children and displayed on the lampposts throughout the village would be allowed to remain in place until Friday morning. Cllr Charles explained that these posters may distract drivers and were all removed by County officials on Friday morning.
