Liberal Democrat Ed Davey MP visits West Derbyshire10.01.46am GMT Wed 22nd Nov 2006
The Bulls Head, Foolow was the venue for a wonderful meal and inspirational talk by Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry spokesman on Friday 10th November. Ed explained the Liberal Democrat Green Tax Switch Policy which benefits the environment by taxing polluters. The resulting income is then used to reduce income tax by eliminating the lower tax band and increasing personal allowances so taking a significant number of taxpayers out of tax altogether. A major concern for Ed is to regenerate the Post Office network and he said: "The Labour Government has presided over a decimation of the Post Office network. Now it seems their solution to "stabilise" the Post Office will involve an expensive programme of thousands more branch closures, bringing hardship and financial exclusion to millions."
