Derbyshire Dales Liberal Democrats Choose Tracy Steadman to fight Masson Ward By-election12.48.41pm GMT Tue 13th Nov 2007
Tracy is a 35 year old District Nurse who works locally and is married to Rob, a music teacher. They have 3 young children and have lived in Matlock for nearly seven years. Tracy and her husband decided to settle in Derbyshire after visiting and liking the general feel of the area. They love living here and feel privileged to be raising their family in such a wonderful part of the country. In her job as a District Nurse in Derbyshire, Tracy has gained insight into the issues faced by people living in villages and rural communities. She understands the importance of facilities such as the Post Office to village life and supports the campaign to retain those threatened with closure, as in Bonsall. As a mother with young children, Tracy is interested in maintaining and improving local facilities and services, particularly for families. Having used the unit herself, Tracy supported the campaign to retain the Darley Birthing Centre for the benefit of women in Derbyshire and believes that the campaign led by local people proves that local action really does work. Tracy has spent her professional life working mainly with older people and vulnerable adults. She is experienced in representing both individuals and groups and feels that this will be invaluable when serving local people as a councillor. "I think that it would be an honour to be elected to the council and represent the people of Masson Ward. I believe the Liberal Democrats try to focus on local action and decision-making. As councillors we can make a difference to this area, as well as making sure the voices of local people are heard."
