Tory hypocrisy over greenfield development

Wolds Farm development site

Tory hypocrisy knows no bounds ! Matlock FOCUS readers will know that only the Liberal Democrats have consistently opposed the District Council's Local Plan and some of its 'greenfield' housing site allocations, including the very contentious 415 dwelling Gritstone / Pinewood site at Wolds Farm, which many residents believe is completely unsustainable. A idea of the proposed development can be viewed here.
District Council Tories voted for the allocation of this site in the Local Plan. Therefore, to distribute a leaflet in parts of Matlock claiming their opposition to the Wolds and other greenfield development in Matlock is completely disingenuous.
The Wolds site had previously been considered by a committee to be unsuitable for development but later overturned by the full Council. Is this a case of dereliction of duty?

Now that William Davis have submitted a hybrid Planning Application for the controversial Gritstone / Pinewood Road site, you can make your views known to District and County Council officers as well as members of the Planning Committee. The application is for 75 houses (full) and 340 houses (outline) (ref 18/01242/EIA). (Search for this reference on the DDDC planning website.
Liberal Democrats believe that the town's existing infrastructure - whether from roads and traffic congestion (with further delays, especially around Crown Square), surface and foul water drainage, and school capacity - may be unable to absorb such a huge development, while our GP practices face up to a 25% increase in patient numbers. There will also be a significant impact on the local landscape, particularly if the houses are built in red brick, like other new housing schemes off Chesterfield Road.
