Gridlocked local roads

Cllrs Sue Burfoot & Dave Elsworth at Crown SquareTown Cllr Dave Elsworth has spent the past two years or more trying to convince planners and highway engineers that the new housing developments off Chesterfield Road, especially the huge Gritstone / Pinewood Road site will inevitably create gridlocked local roads, including roads which converge on Crown Square, not to mention the public health impacts from air pollution.

As Dave says, about 230 houses are currently being built - all of them accessed from Chesterfield Road, so the Wolds site, if approved, will obviously make the local traffic situation far worse than now. Add to that the extra pressure on Crown Square from these and the houses approved for Cawdor Quarry and we can all agree that the result will be chaos at a roundabout which is already over capacity.
