Robert Court is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Derbyshire Dales at the 2019 General Election.
He worked as a physics teacher in London and then until retirement as headmaster of Birkdale School in Sheffield. He has lived in Derbyshire Dales with his wife Andrea for over 20 years. He has played village cricket and taken part in amateur drama. He is involved in his village church and is governor of a local primary school. He has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since 2016 and was selected as our candidate in October 2018.
Robert writes, "This election is probably the most important this country has faced for a long time. We face the dual challenge of saving the planet from climate catastrophe and saving the country from the potentially disastrous effects of Brexit. Far from yielding the so-called Brexit dividend, leaving the EU would inflict economic damage upon the country, making it much harder to provide the funds which are desperately needed by the NHS and for education, to name just two vital areas which have been starved of funds. A no-deal Brexit would create immediate havoc and cause even greater damage."
He believes very strongly that we need to give us all and especially our young people real hope for the future. Looking at the sorry state of our politics encouraged him to put himself forward to serve the country and constituency. Truthfulness, integrity and mutual respect need to be restored to public life. Robert is a Green Liberal Democrat.
The party's national slogan is "Stop Brexit. Build a Brighter Future" Please help us do exactly that. Our contribution is to do all we can to win Derbyshire Dales.
