'Monty' Monteith
I am delighted to be campaigning on behalf of the Liberal Democrats for the area I live in. Atlow has been my home for 23 years and it is where I run a small business, employing local people. Previously I spent 10 years in the Army seeing operational service in Northern Ireland and the Falkland Islands (soon after the war) and then 5 years with big international companies before starting my own business in 1995.
The Derbyshire Dales has been a wonderful spot in which to bring up the family and run a company.
I have always been involved in the local community and interested in local politics. I have coached at Ashbourne Rugby club and chaired QEGS PTA. I have also been a Governor at Kniveton School and a Churchwarden in my village.
I have a particular passion for the key liberal democratic principles of liberty and equality and I believe these should be reflected in the practical issues and decision making in the ward and on the District Council.
