Defending All Our Rights!

Yes, we have a failing migration system, with criminal gangs exploiting people, but this is not solved by political hysteria and knee jerk policies. The Tories have stuck two fingers in their ears to deafen the sounds of clamouring arguments to implement a readily accessible and workable migration mechanism. They refuse to stand up and confront the doomsayers in their ranks and admit we NEED people to migrate to this country. They want to throw the baby out with the bath water, turn away the willing, the educated and the skilled just because some in their party can't hack it. A cohort of Tory MPs, who inflame the situation with unintelligent, ill-informed and deliberately evasive sound bites, are stoking the spectre of Europe once again being at the heart of all our ills. They want Britain to leave the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR).

Let's get one thing clear the ECHR has NOTHING to do with the European Union nor Brexit, but some Tories will try and convince their constituents it has. The ECHR was set up to uphold human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe, all of which had been torn apart during WW2 and millions died as a consequence. It wasn't a left-wing plot, it was preserving the rights for all of us, against political tyranny, for generations to come. There are 46 countries as signatories, Russia was expelled in 2022, who all realise that freedoms and liberties are hard won and easily lost. We must not return to those days of fear and retribution. Attacking the legal profession and decrying the courts, as some Tories MPs do, is a worrying escalation of rhetoric and propaganda.

Fix the legal migration system, give access to those that should be here and to those we need to be here. Prosecute the criminal gangs that exploit, not the legal system that defends rights.
