Lloyds Bank Ashbourne

Lloyds Bank have announced that they intend to close their branch in Ashbourne on 24th June 2025. Since this is the last reamining high street bank in the town residents are concerned about the consequences of this closure.

Although LLoyds have said that there is a Banking Hub planned for the area there is no opening date or indeed location specified.

In response the three Lib Dem Councillors for Ashbourne - Rob Archer, Nick Wilton and Peter Dobbs - have written the following letter to LLoyds Bank;

Dear Lloyds Bank,
As District Councillors for Ashbourne we would like to express our concern at the proposed closure of the Ashbourne branch of Lloyds. As the sole remaining high street bank in the town this decision has caused significant dismay amongst residents.
We note that you indicate there should be a Banking Hub provided in due course. However we would request that to minimise inconvenience to your customers you commit to the following.
1. That you undertake not to close the branch before an Ashbourne Banking Hub is up and running  and
2. That you agree to having a Lloyds Bank Community Banker present at the hub on at least one day each week.

Cllr Nick Wilton commented, "It is important that there is a continuity of banking services in Ashbourne. We do not want to see a repeat of what happened in Belper after Lloyds closed their branch there. The town was left with no bank for over a year until the Banking Hub was opened in February 2024".

We invite members of the public to add your names to this letter via our petition that is on this website.
