Go Green in Matlock
Derbyshire Dales District Council is hosting its very first 'Go Green' event in Matlock's Hall Leys Park on Saturday 30 July from 10am to 3pm.
The free-to-enter, family-friendly event will showcase solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis, encouraging residents, businesses and visitors to reduce their carbon footprint by making lifestyle changes such as reducing energy use, generating less waste, becoming more active and encouraging biodiversity in their gardens.
As part of this event Derbyshire Dales Climate Hub will be holding a community assembly 'Giving local people voice and choice', engaging in discussion on 'How to go about making space for nature within Derbyshire Dales'

Similar events are scheduled for 6th August at the Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale and online in September.
Elsewhere in the park stalls and displays will include home energy improvement and retrofit advice with experts from the 'Carbon Coop', local air source heat pump and solar panel installers and secondary glazing specialists.
Marches Energy Agency will be there with their Fantastic Home vehicle offering free impartial energy-saving and efficiency advice, helping residents to save money and reduce our community's climate impact.
Do you know how important bogs are in the climate crisis? Come and visit the Moors for the Future 'Bogtastic' vehicle - the world's first bog in a van! Kitted out with artwork, sound and a spongey floor to emulate the experience of being on moorland.
If you have been thinking about getting back on your bike recently then now is the time! There will be a FREE Dr Bike workshop with Inclusive Pedals offering bike checks, adjustments and repairs - adults and children's bikes welcome. Always wanted to know more about electric vehicles? Come along and ask the Energy Saving Trust expert who will be at the event with a second hand electric vehicle ready to answer your questions.
Environmental charity groundwork will be showcasing the work they do with volunteers at local sites along with promotion of their Green Doctor energy advice service. There'll also be representatives present from local allotments.
District Council partners Serco will be bringing one of their refuse vehicles to the event, demonstrating how our waste is collected and what happens to it after collection. The Council's waste team will also be on hand with recycling demos and interactive games, plus composting advice and information from the Love Food, Hate Waste campaign. You'll also have the chance to win a free compost bin!
Local suppliers of plastic free products and Woven Earth, Midlands Restoration Hub, will be talking about the idea of co-creating restoration in all its forms. Their base is a 120 acre farm close to Matlock. Come along and find out about their plans.
The Council's biodiversity lead will be at the event, explaining our current initiatives and giving away wildflower seed bombs to encourage improving biodiversity in your gardens. Find out how you can 'bring birds back' with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, learn about swift streets and the actions you can take to make a difference.
Artist Paul Evans leading a free fun, drop in workshop for all ages based around endangered species, including model making and drawing.
