According to research published in the Bloomberg article 'Boris Johnson's Flagship Plan to Fix Britain Is in Trouble', Derbyshire Dales has fallen further behind London and the South East in 5 out of 12 parameters, selected to compare parliamentary constituencies throughout the country. Each parameter was assessed for 2019 and then for 2021.

These 5 parameters were;

  • Salaries
  • Civil Service Employment
  • Foreign Investment
  • Total Government Spending
  • Investment in Transport
  • Productivity
  • Broadband

In 4 other areas where the Dales were ahead of London and the South East in 2019 the parameter indicates that we have lost ground in the last 2 years.

The following had all got worse.

  • Universal credit claimants
  • Home affordability
  • Crime
  • Life expectancy

In only one area (where we were behind in 2019) have things improved and that is in Well being.

So for Dales residents things have got worse relative to London and the South East in almost every area but we are still cheerful!
