Despite a 15% swing from the Tories to the Liberal Democrats, it was a Conservative who held on to the rural ward of Carsington Water in the Derbyshire Dales, albeit with a reduced majority on an increased turnout.

With a great candidate in 'Monty' Stuart-Monteith the campaign team worked hard to win over the electorate that had, in many villages, returned a Tory for over 50 years. Indeed their winning vote had only once fallen below 60%, with a Conservative securing the seat unopposed on 6 occasions in the past.

This was a tough nut to crack but the team of campaigners found much to encourage them.

Monty comments, "The warm reception my team and I received across their community was most heartening. We heard about many issues that are not being addressed by either local or central government and we will continue to do what we can to highlight those concerns".
