Nepotism - the Johnson Family Way.
Nepotism: "The unfair use of power in order to get jobs or other benefits for your family or friends." Collins Dictionary
Boris Johnson has such a deep rooted sense of entitlement, that he might have failed to anticipate the outrage at his suggested knighthood for his father, Stanley Johnson.
Being someone's father is not a guarantee of worthiness, it should be a lifelong pursuit of loving your children.
To deserve a peerage someone should have gone above and beyond mere paternity, they should have served in public life, giving time to improve others' lives through selfless service. That deserves recognition.
Boris Johnson has already bestowed a peerage on his brother and appears willing to pack the benches of the Lords with cronies and acolytes.
It is this sense of being unfettered by other people's norms and values that has allowed some in the upper echelons of the Conservative Party to ride rough-shod over our lives. The arrogant and dismissive messages from Matt Hancock's What's App are all symptomatic of their sense of 'other'. Whilst power sits unchecked in the hands of a few, then this entitlement continues unabated.
The values of public service are debased by sleazy nepotism.
