Not so Good Vibrations

Walkers Transport in Church Street
HGV in Church St Ashbourne

Many locals will be all too familiar with the problem of the noise made by HGVs in Church Street, Ashbourne. Any conversation has to stop until they have travelled past over the uneven roads.

However imagine what it is like for the residents of this beautiful street. For them the noisy interruption is also accompanied by significant structural vibrations - enough, we have been told, to make the pictures hanging on their walls move. And this can begin at 5 am!

Local Lib Dems are campaigning to have the HGVs banned from this section of road (except for access) since there is an alternative route involving entirely 'A' roads that is only 300m longer. See here for details.

We are also pressing the 'steering group', which has been set up to suggest ways of reducing air pollution, to introduce a 20 mph speed limit in the centre of Ashbourne. Hopefully this would also reduce the not so good vibrations.
