Well-being festivals are being organised this month by Derbyshire Dales District Council's Active Dales team in Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock, with help from many local volunteers organisations.

Funded and co-produced by Derbyshire County Council Public Health, the events target different communities in the north, south and central areas of the Dales.

The first festival at the District Council's Bakewell ABC on Monday 10 October (11am-2pm) will feature a variety of information stalls to support visitors with physical, mental and financial well-being.

St Oswald's Church Hall is the venue for Ashbourne's Well-being event on Thursday 13 October from 11.30am-2.30pm, and the festival moves on to Farmer's View in Matlock on Wednesday 26 October (11am-2pm) during half term to target children and families.

The District Council's Community Development Manager Becky Cummins said:

"In Bakewell we're targeting the farming and rural communities, which is why we have chosen to hold it on the town's market day. There will be free bacon and sausage sandwiches and activities including a health walk and an exercise class taster session.

"Adults and older people are the target group at our Ashbourne festival, which will also feature free refreshments and the chance to try out Nordic walking.

"In Matlock there will be lots of activities, from yoga for children and adults, a kids' boot camp, Halloween Xplorer Orienteering and much more."
