Small minded Tories and Labour
One of the lost benefits of leaving the EU was that under freedom of movement young people could live and work across Europe, gaining valuable life experiences whilst we welcomed young people from Europe to experience the UK.
The EU has just offered a small olive branch in rebuilding relationships with the UK with a youth mobility scheme, one would have expected the Tories whose hearts are full of hatred of anything European but for the Labour to dismiss the scheme out of hand is surely more depressing. To portray the scheme as opening up the flood gates on immigration is frankly ridiculous.
This highlights why we need a strong Lib Dem presence in the next Parliament.
Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: “Expanding our existing youth mobility visas to cover European countries on a reciprocal basis would be a win-win.
“It would be a much needed boost to our economy, especially hospitality and tourism; it would offer great new opportunities to young British people to work abroad; and it would be a crucial step towards fixing our broken relationship with Europe."
We are the only party offering a postive outlook for our country - don't forget that on May 2 or at the forthcoming General Election.
