THE NHS NEEDS LIFE SUPPORT
When the country was on its knees during COVID and the NHS was literally keeping people alive, the occupants of 10 Downing Street stood on the steps and clapped. But the NHS has been underfunded for so long and the staff so worn out that it needs the life support now. It is time to stop shallow shows of support, now is the time to step up. But the Conservative government has sought to undermine confidence in the staff of the NHS who had finally had enough and were on strike. Gone was the Tory rhetoric of support, only criticism of hard pressed staff who said "No more!".
Huge state run organisations like the NHS need good guidance, appropriate funding and a belief in their core values. Waiting lists for operations, cancer care referrals and innumerable other services have reached unsustainable levels of disarray and are no longer serving the needs of the public. But blaming the staff of the NHS, as the government seeks to do, as complicit in the demise of the service for which they work, is abhorrent.
Only proper funding, instead of tax cuts, will save the NHS from an ignominious decline. Sunak today finally admitted that the cornerstone of his lauded NHS waiting list reduction, has failed miserably. It has in fact increased. This country is ailing in so many ways that only a significant change in direction can bring hope. But the Tory Party is not for change, they stick to their old ways and old convictions. Everyone else is to blame for their failures.
SUPPORT THE NHS AND VOTE OUT THE TORIES.
