Tory lies not confined to Westminster

It seems that the Derbyshire Dales Tories are so concerned about the Lib Dem challenge in Ashbourne that they have embraced the 'Johnson' approach and simply made stuff up.

Misinformation #1 Lib Dems " Won't deliver a relief road…"
As has been made crystal clear in all our literature, Lib Dems are in favour of a 'western by-pass' (relief road). We would not be in a position to deliver it, since it has to be a County and central government project - not a District Council matter. These are after all District Council elections.
It is of course the Tories who have failed to find the funding for it during the last six years whilst being in control at Derbyshire County Council and Westminster (although being in 'control' is possibly debatable, bearing in mind the chaos we have seen).

Misinformation #2 Lib Dems "Want to tax hard working people through a congestion charge". The link between driving a polluting vehicle and being hard working is questionable and only owners of polluting vehicles would be charged. (In fact only those who did not live in Ashbourne in the plan as proposed). That aside, the Tories appear to forget that it was a County Council Manifesto commitment to introduce 'Clean Air Zones' where a town wanted them!

Misinformation #3 "Lib Dems want to revisit sites in Ashbourne for a permanent traveller site".
It is to be hoped that ALL elected councillors throughout Derbyshire Dales will enter into the process of looking again at possible locations for a permanent Traveller site with an open mind. To make promises about a specific location would be prejudicing the objectivity of any future site appraisal exercise that evaluated sites against a fixed set of criteria.
DDDC are currently failing to meet their statutory obligations and a fair and transparent process must be undertaken.

Misinformation #4 Lib Dems have "No Levelling Up agenda for our area". Lib Dems have lots of good ideas to improve our area although we would rather not use the term 'levelling up'. This is after all a largely discredited method of delivering funding to regional projects - not least because it is poor value for money and unrelated to local need.

Laughable claim "We (the Tories) will prevent unauthorised traveller encampments in Ashbourne". The Tories track record on this is not impressive. Why would it change with the same people in charge?
