Levelling Up? Not in Derbyshire Dales

According to research published in the Bloomberg article 'Boris Johnson's Flagship Plan to Fix Britain Is in Trouble', Derbyshire Dales has fallen further behind London and the South East in 5 out of 12 parameters, selected to compare parliamentary constituencies throughout the country. Each parameter was assessed for 2019 and then for 2021. These 5 parameters were;

Lib Dem Councillor raises thousands for Air Ambulance

Derbyshire Dales Civic Chairman's year in office is coming to a close - and Lib Dem Councillor Steve Wain says it has been "a privilege and an honour" to wear the ceremonial chain of office representing the District Council at scores of official engagements. Along the way Councillor Wain and his supporters have raised thousands of pounds for his nominated charity - the Air Ambulance Service, which is funded solely from public donations. Derbyshire Dales Lib Dems demand heating oil price cap in rural cost of living rescue package.

The Liberal Democrats have demanded a rural cost of living rescue package, including a cap on heating oil prices to help struggling families off the gas grid. The party warned that the Conservatives are leaving rural communities "out in the cold" by refusing to help with soaring bills. Rural communities are bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis with soaring heating bills, petrol prices and food costs all hitting struggling families.

Whether it is giving water companies 18 years to sort out less than half of their storm sewage discharges or, more locally, suspending food waste collections so that kitchen scraps went to landfill releasing methane, a potent greenhouse gas, the Conservative track record on the environment is less than impressive.
